KPIs and Metrics for Web Management

 

 Web management has seen popularity since the usage of technology and the influence of technology has increased on the decisions made by people. Web management today is an important concern for the business and an important point to focus upon to ensure a successful business. Web management is taking care of the website and maintaining it so that the customers as attracted to it. Managing the web includes the maintenance of the website thus avoiding broken imagery, avoiding website errors and focusing on SEO. The functionality of the website is important to maintain as there are chances to lose customers if the website is not functional (Dev Team, 2018).

It is important to analyze the performance of the website while managing it, thus the performance of the website can be measured by setting upon certain metrics and KPIs for it. The key performance indicators help to measure the performance of the website and keep a check on it. So that it can be focused upon and improved when the changes are required or when it falls from the required level of performance. The website data and its contribution to the effectiveness of the website can be found with the help of the developed metrics and the key performance indicators (Jasin, n.d.). The key performance indicators are quantitative in nature most of the time as it helps to set limits and measure performance. They allow businesses and individuals to know something concrete and authentic about the area of interest due to their quantitative nature of measuring the area of interest. However, with the associated importance of the KPIs, it is also essential to choose the right KPIs for the business. The selection of the wrong KPI can lead to problems for the business because they will not be able to measure their achievements correctly with the right indicator (Badawy, et al., 2016).



Influencer marketing is another rising trend due to the rapid introduction of technology. Influencer marketing is one of the tools of digital marketing and effectively helps in gauging the attention of the customers. People who trust the influencers are impacted by their suggestions and this can provide huge benefits to businesses. Influencer marketing can help to increase the visits and interaction of the people on the website of the business based upon the audience of the influencers. The focus of the related audience upon the influencer creates a positive image of the brand and there are likely chances that people visit the website and most of the time make a purchase. This influencer marketing can be considered as an important tool (Edword, 2020). But there should be ways and metrics which can help to measure the performance increase of the business which is done by using influencer marketing. Businesses pay large amounts to influencers for promoting their products and giving reviews however, it is important that after investing there are ways to measure the increase in performance. There are instances when one business has hired several different influencers so without any KPI or metrics, it would be difficult to track the performance of each influencer. Thus the KPIs discussed should be incorporated in order to manage the websites and the KPIs which also assist in managing the website and measuring the performance of the website due to influencer marketing.


One of the important KPIs that helps to measure the performance of the website is conversion rate. The conversion rate is one of the most used KPIs for the management of the web, which signifies how many visitors took action after visiting the website. This action includes the generation of sales but it is not limited to it. The action taken by the people visiting the website includes the subscription to a new letter, signing up for any sales or contributing to the cause of the website. The conversion rate helps to measure the effectiveness of the website and the extent to which it attracts consumers (Jasin, n.d.).

The bounce rate metric is another important way to measure the performance of the website. This shows how many visitors opened the website and returned back i.e. left the site. The visitors just exit the website without looking at the other linked pages of the website, thus the higher bounce rate indicates poor performance (Abbamonte, 2019). The bounce rate can be used to analyze the performance of the website, the high bounce rate means that maybe some changes are needed in the website’s layout or its content.

The traffic generated through influencer marketing can be measured using the KPI of the return on investment. This is done by providing the influencer with a specific code that the consumers enter while they are making the purchase (Chichioco, 2018). The customers who are directed towards the business due to the influencer are likely to enter that code, and the entry of that code by the consumer can also help to measure the performance of the influencer that is hired. However, it is important to hire an influencer who is involved in influencing the target audience related to the brand.

Unique website visitor is another metric that is used in order to measure the performance of the website. The unique website visitor records a visitor as one entry even if he logs on to the website multiple times. The count of the visitor is done for a certain period which is predefined by the business (ModGirl Marketing, 2017). It indicates the traffic on the website based on the number of visits, thus indicating the overall performance of the website. 

Reach and awareness is used as a tool to measure the performance of a website based on influencer marketing. It can be measured by seeing the increased visits to the website, increased interactions on the posts and the popularity of the campaign which is run with the help of influencers.

The discussed KPIs and metrics regards that how the performance of the website can be managed and analyzed based on quantitative measures.
