The emergence and quick rise of mobile computing and cellphones have also helped social commerce. Within society, social technologies are gaining in popularity. Despite the fact that the term "social technology" is most generally used to refer to new social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, a new definition based on the original definition is required. The term "social technology" now carries a number of connotations that undermine the prevailing image of technology. It stresses the social sciences and humanities as shapers of society and reconsiders the value of "soft technology."

 

Evolution of Social Technologies

Executives have realized the power of blogs, wikis, and social networks to expand lines of company cooperation and interaction, as well as to increase knowledge exchange, since the birth of the social-technology era.
